Beat the Holiday Rush: Book Before November Fills Up
November and December get crowded fast, on your calendar and ours. Here is why booking your visit now beats squeezing it in between Thanksgiving and New Year's.
November is just days away, and once it starts, the calendar fills fast with travel, school programs, office parties and errands. Before you know it, that ache you meant to get looked at is pushed to after the holidays.
We see it every year at our Wells Branch office. Open appointments go quickly in late fall, so booking now, before November gets going, means you get a time that works for you.
Why the Calendar Gets Tight
At this time of the year, your own schedule fills up, and so does everyone else's. Kids are out for Thanksgiving, families travel, and some businesses close or run shorter hours during the holidays. With fewer days open, things get tough to book.
If you book in late October or early November, you get the time that works for you, and not the 8:30 AM slot nobody else wanted.
The Holidays Ask a Lot of Your Body
The season is fun, and it is also physical in ways people forget. Think about what a typical November and December involve:
- Long drives and flights. Hours in a car or a plane seat, then hauling suitcases in and out of the trunk. A simple routine for road trips can do wonders for your body during those long days of travel.
- Lifting and carrying. Boxes of decorations down from the attic and a heavy turkey in and out of the oven are just a few things that can cause issues if not done properly.
- Standing in the kitchen. A full day of cooking on a hard floor is a long time on your feet.
- Less routine. Once the holidays get going, workouts slip, sleep gets shorter, and more hours go to sitting through long dinners.
If Something Has Been Bothering You, Deal With It Now
Most people put off a visit because they figure the stiff neck or the low back ache will go away on its own. But when it doesn't, the holidays are a hard time to finally get around to it, because there is always one more thing on the list.
A visit before the rush gives you a clear answer about what's going on and a plan for the weeks ahead. If you're new to us and not sure what that looks like, here is exactly what happens at a first visit.
A Few Easy Ways to Plan Ahead
- Book before you buy the plane tickets. Pick your appointment first, then plan the trip around it.
- Get the whole family on the same day. If more than one person in your house has been meaning to come in, back-to-back appointments save you a second trip.
- Think about the week after the trip, too. If long drives tend to leave you stiff, it can help to have a visit on the calendar for when you get home.
- Keep moving between the parties. A short walk after a big meal and a few minutes of stretching in the morning go a long way when your usual routine is off.
When Not to Wait at All
If you have sudden, severe pain, numbness or weakness in a leg, or pain after a fall or a car accident, don't hold it for a convenient date. Get it checked right away!
